Sugar’s Pigs & Pups is dedicated to breeding healthy, happy pets. Each Pig & Pup will be raised alongside our own family and pets. They will be well socialized with children (of all ages), dogs, pigs, goats, chickens and cats. We want to provide new Pig/Pup parents with all the information and education they need to feel comfortable and prepared when they bring their new family member home.

Itty Bitty Piggies

Why do we call them Itty Bitty Piggies?? Because it’s adorable! Are they Itty Bitty? Yes, when you compare a mini, teacup, or one of the other labels breeders give their pigs to a Regular Farm Hog, they are Itty Bitty!😊 However, that does not mean that they will weigh under 20, 30, or even 40lbs!!! Pigs are dense! They can be very small in stature, but they will weigh considerably more than a dog of the same height. As a child, I was raised around English Bulldogs. We had 3 growing up: Winston, Blue, and Boo. Winston was the largest of the 3. Their size and stature reminds me of my mini pigs.

So, you’re considering adding a mini pig to your family. There are some important things to keep in mind. Does you HOA and/or city permit pigs in your neighborhood? Do you have a yard for your piggy to frolic and root? Pigs like to forage, they get vitamins and minerals from rooting in the grass and dirt. If you are particularly proud of your beautiful yard, you may want to designate an area for your pig that he or she can root and modify without ruining your entire yard. Most of my pigs just graze on the grass, but if they find an interesting spot, they will root up a little patch😅. Can I have a pig in an apartment? Yes, but be prepared to take them on a long walk each day like you would an energetic dog. Not that a mini pig needs to go for a “run”, but they do get bored and need to have some outside time in the grass😊.
